Hello,
I am running the Bay State Half Marathon this year on October 19th, 2008 to support AID (Association for India's Development) and Asha and raise awareness about crucial development issues in India and more importantly to raise funds to support AID and Asha projects in India. I plan to do this mainly though support of friends, colleagues and well-wishers like you. So please donate generously to help me reach my fund-raising goal. But first let me tell you a bit about AID, Asha and my involvement with these organizations.
AID and Asha are two voluntary, non-profit charity organizations based in the USA. Both organizations are committed to promoting education, sustainable, equitable and just development in India, by working with grassroots organizations and movements in India. Both of these organizations have chapters in many places in USA and India and several committed volunteers across the world.
I have been working with AID as a volunteer for 6 years. Over the course of my involvement I had the opportunity to personally observe and participate in a number of projects undertaken by AID. I have learned a great deal from my experience and developed an understanding about the interconnected nature of problems such has poverty, health care for all, social justice and peace. AID and Asha are two organizations who through their democratic, people centric, principle oriented approach to problem solving are best suited to tackle the myriad challenges that India faces today.
