I have recently taken up running as a sport. Until few months back, I could never imagine running a mile without half a dozen breaks. But after few months of rigorous training, running has actually helped me get de-stressed, and given me the confidence to overcome challenges on many occasions.
I have signed up for the Bay State Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in Lowell, MA this year (October 19th 2008) to raise funds for education and development issues for the poor and under privileged in India.
AID (Association for India’s Development) and Asha for Education are two voluntary non-profit organizations committed to support and initiate efforts in various interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources, health, women's empowerment and social justice. I chose AID and ASHA for their 15 years of experience in this field. They are student initiated voluntary organizations and hence 100% of my contributions go towards the cause. I am impressed by the fact that they have successfully implemented over 550 projects. AID Projects Database can be found at: http://www.aidprojects.org/
