I have enjoyed running since my kindergarten days. Running has helped me get de-stressed, figure out bugs in my code, prepare for my defense presentation and given me the confidence to overcome challenges on many occasions.
For a long time I was training by myself and entering races to better my PR, but this year I decided to do something more. I joined the AID and ASHA running group so that I could use my love and commitment for running to benefit causes that support India’s development.
AID and Asha are two voluntary non-profit organizations committed to promoting education, sustainable, equitable and just development in India, by working with grassroots organizations and movements in India. AID and Asha support and initiate efforts in various interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources, health, women's empowerment and social justice.
I am running the Bay State Marathon in Lowell Massachusetts this year (October 19th 2008) to raise awareness about the development issues in India and for funds to support Asha and AID projects. I am committed to running this marathon in 250 minutes and raising $2620 while training for it.

Power of dollars you donate:
• $500 – Can completely take care of a ten year old child until she graduates from high school.
• $250 – Helps train hundreds of rural men and women in making clothes, using a bank and more
• $100 – Helps educate hundred rural pregnant women on infant health
• $50 – Helps a rural farmer start his own business
• $25 – Takes care of education and living of one child for one month
