Howdy ... Hola... Welcome ...

If you have come to this page it means you are at least curious to know what all this running and fund raising I have been talking, emailing and broadcasting about. A big thanks for your interest and the time you are taking to read what I need to say.

There are times when I am preoccupied and lost with my own thoughts, there are times I am pondering over a difficult situation, there are times when I get stressed and can detach myself from everything to meet a tight deadline at work. Thankfully there are also times when I am completely free of thoughts, concerns, cares and just feel like living the moment. Running gives me a lot of those moments. A casual activity I picked up to get in shape 15 months ago - running now occupies a good size of my free time today. A hobby I enjoy and pursue with enthusiasm. After 10 months of running about 20 miles a week, wearing out 3 pairs of running shoes, completing a half marathon in 2 hours I am now eying the Chicago Marathon later this year on October 12 - a full 26.2 miles or 42 KM of running.

There are many things that inspire me to run a marathon this year.

* It is believed that "Everything you need to learn about life you will learn in 26.2 miles"
* I can join less than 1% of the world people who proudly call themselves marathoners.
* I have learned to push myself to my physical limits way out of my comfort zone.
* After having run over 1000 miles in the course of a year - running a marathon can be my own personal grand finale.
* A serial marathoner friend said "After running marathons you can be ready for anything in life".

Above all my biggest inspiration to run a marathon is to provide under-privileged children an opportunity to LEARN and receive a proper education, a shot at a good life and a chance for a better future. For this cause I committed to raising at least a $100 for every mile I plan to run in Chicago. A total of $2620. The money I raise will go to the Asha and Aid charity organizations to fund their projects focusing on the education of rural and under privileged children.

The power of your donation:

* $10 - Takes care of the education of a child for a complete month. Less than what it would cost you to watch a movie.
* $25 - Takes care of the education and living expenses of a child for a complete month. Costs less than a dinner outside.
* $50 - Takes care of a child's education for almost half a year. Costs less than an evening out with friends.
* $100 - Helps educate 100 rural pregnant women on infant health. Costs less than a visit to an amusement park.
* $250 - Takes care of a year's education and living costs of an under privileged child. Costs less than a new Wii or X-BOX.
* $500 - Funds the education of a 10 year old girl until she finishes high school. Costs less than that new IKEA couch.

While the above gives you an idea of the power of your donation - absolutely anything will help and I encourage you to start with a minimum of $10. Click on donate and make your donation for a great cause. Paying by credit card is the most preferred method.
