Last year, I raised over $6,000 for Association for India's Development (AID), including company match and MathWorks End-of-Year donations. This would not have been possible without the generous contributions of my family, friends and coworkers. So another round of thanks to all of you for your continued support and encouragement.
This year after recovering from a foot fracture, I started training and I have put in over 400 miles of runs till now. I was preparing for the Lowell marathon but due to knee injuries last month, I've had to cut down on my runs. So I am running the Lowell Sun half-marathon instead (on October 19th). If I recover fully, I hope to run a marathon early next year.
I hope that all these months of training and hard work takes me one step closer to a nobler cause, and the cause is to strive towards fighting poverty and illiteracy in India. All the funds raised would go towards projects undertaken by AID and ASHA.
In case you are not already aware, AID and Asha are two non-profit organizations that disburse their funds to projects across India, involving rural development, education, relief, etc. Check out some of the links for the projects that they are involved in:
