TeamAIDAsha Runner Policy

Runners can attend up to four Saturday group training runs organized by TeamAIDAsha without any fund-raising commitments. After four group runs, runner must officially register for the season to continue training with the team.

TeamAIDAsha commitments
- Marathon / half-marathon training program supervised by a certified coach and assisted by experienced marathoners
- Organized group training runs on Saturday mornings at Cambridge / Somerville / Arlington or surrounding towns
- Unlimited opportunities to learn about sustainable development and educational projects in India supported by AID and Asha, Boston/MIT chapters
- Fund-raising clinic, best practices guide and access to alum mentor guidance to help with fund-raising
- Secure personal web page for raising funds online
- Access to bib numbers at Marine Corps Marathon and Baystate full/half marathons.
- TeamAIDAsha t-shirt
- Monthly informal social outings during the training period organized by TeamAIDAsha alum runners and volunteers
- Formally register for the program after a maximum of four free group runs
- Follow the training schedule and coach's recommendations as closely as possible
- Attend all the key events as much as possible (Saturday group runs, special clinics, etc.)
- Follow the recommended fund-raising best practices and raise the minimum required amount or more by the date of the target full or half marathon in October. In the unlikely event that the runner fails to reach the minimum target amount by the race date, TeamAIDAsha reserves the right to charge runner's credit card for the remaining amount.
- TeamAIDAsha training registration fees: $125 (non-refundable, counted towards fundraising target)
- Marine Corps Marathon registration fees paid to MCM, if runner selects Marine Corps Marathon: $120 (approximate, subject to change based on MCM policy)
- Baystate full/half marathon registration fees paid to Baystate if runner picks Baystate full-half marathon: $90 (approximate, subject to change based on Baystate policy)
- Running gear and apparel expenses (normally two pairs of running shoes for each season)
- Travel and accommodation expenses to and from marathon / half-marathon races and group runs
- In the unlikely event that the runner fails to reach the minimum target amount by the race date, TeamAIDAsha reserves the right to charge runner's credit card for the remaining amount. Runners who follow the fund-raising best-practices recommended by TeamAIDAsha do not encounter this expense.
- Full marathon: $2620
- Full marathon (students and post-docs): $1500
- Half marathon: $1500
- Half marathon (students and post-docs): $1000
- Alum runners (both full and half marathoners) must raise the discounted target of $1000 or more before their target race date in October
- Alum runner can get $250 additional discount for each new full-marathon runner with $2620 target who designate the alum runner as their official mentor for the season. The maximum discount will be $500 (two new runners). For example: if two or more new runners designate alum runner "X" as their mentor during registration AND if at least two of those new runners raise $2620 or more, X's discounted fund-raising target will be $500.
- Alum runner must have raised $2620 or more during one of the earlier TeamAIDAsha seasons

- Alum runner must proactively help the new runners by answering questions and helping navigate the logistics of the training and fund-raising program
